Job Summary

The Freight Technology Product Deputy Manager (Information Technology) is responsible for defining, developing, and managing the technology products that support freight forwarding, transportation, and logistics operations across the organization. He/she serves as the bridge between business operations, technology teams, and external partners to deliver digital solutions that improve operational efficiency, shipment visibility, customer experience, data-driven decision making, and business growth.

The Freight Technology Product Deputy Manager (Information Technology) owns the end-to-end product lifecycle of freight technology platforms, including Freight Forwarding Systems, Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Freight Billing Systems, Customer Portals, Track & Trace solutions, Customs Integration platforms, Analytics Dashboards, API ecosystems, and AI-driven automation capabilities. He/she drives digital transformation initiatives by translating business requirements into technology solutions, managing product roadmaps, leading system enhancements, implementing automation and AI capabilities, and ensuring solutions remain scalable, secure, reliable, and aligned with organizational objectives.

The Freight Technology Product Deputy Manager (Information Technology) is a strategic and hands-on technology leader who combines strong business acumen with deep digital expertise. He/She should demonstrate visionary thinking, sound judgement, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams through complex digital transformation initiatives. He/she is collaborative, customer-centric, and outcome-driven, with strong stakeholder management, communication, and executive presence to influence senior leaders and operational teams alike. Job Responsibilities/Key Tasks(External)

Freight System Architecture & Roadmap
•Design and maintain comprehensive system architecture diagrams for the freight ecosystem
•Define the technical roadmap, aligning engineering initiatives with long-term business goals like scalability and digital transformation.

Freight Operations Digitalisation & Automation
•Translate business requirements into comprehensive system narratives and technical design specifications
•Provide developers and vendors with detailed blueprints, including database schema designs (tables, columns, data types), UI/UX mockups, mapping logic, validation/error-handling rules, and audit logging frameworks

Data Analytics, AI & Automation Engineering
•Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards and automated reports to provide logistics stakeholders with real-time visibility into freight performance, operational bottlenecks, and financial KPIs.
•Manage the end-to-end AI lifecycle, including the independent design, build, and production deployment of intelligent agents to automate manual freight processes.

Systems Integration & Technology Ecosystem Management
•Oversee integration with 3rd-party logistics platforms, ERP systems (e.g., SAP), and freight vendors, managing technical relationships and SLAs.
•Define and track critical technical and business KPIs (e.g., system uptime, API response times).
•Conduct post-implementation audits to measure operational improvements

Stakeholder & Business Partnership Management
•Use data-driven scoring systems (e.g., RICE or WSJF) to prioritize the team's workload and balance new features against maintenance, security, and stability requirements.
•Bridge the gap between freight operations and engineering by deconstructing complex needs (e.g., customs compliance, real-time tracking) into actionable user stories and technical specs

Others
•Undertake assigned projects or duties as directed by Management.

Job Requirements

Background in Supply Chain, Logistics, freight operations environment or as a software developer/data engineer environments is an advantage
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment and like to hands on experimentation of emerging technology
Ability to lead technical transitions, including staff training, system migrations, and "go-live" support projects.
Able to execute RFP/RFI processes for selecting vendors, focusing on technical flexibility and long-term supportability.
High level of expertise in Jira/Confluence for managing backlogs and cross-team dependencies.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and digital skills, with interest in AI-driven logistics / supply chain.
Strong communication and stakeholder-engagement abilities across internal and external partners.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Detail-oriented with a proactive, hands-on approach.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Ability to lead cross-functional coordination and continuous-improvement / change management projects.
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

Professional Qualifications & Relevant Experience

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, IT, or a related field.
7–10 years in product management, with at least 3 years in a technical role within logistics or freight forwarding.
Industry certifications such as PMP, CSPO, CSCP is an advantage.
